Please Say It Ain't So! -- NAACP Refuses To Debate Abortion

LARGEST AFRICAN AMERICAN PRO-LIFE GROUP IN NATION (L.E.A.R.N.) CHARGES N.A.A.C.P. WITH CENSORSHIP AFTER REJECTION OF RESOLUTION OF N.A.A.C.P. MACON CHAPTER.

The N.A.A.C.P’s recent endorsement of pro-abortion rights moved the Macon, Georgia Chapter to submit a resolution requesting the issue to come to the floor for debate and vote at this weeks National Convention. Their resolution was rejected.

Loretta Grier, president of the Macon Chapter and member of L.E.A.R.N (Life Education And Resource Network) was shocked when she was told her resolution was rejected due to financial reports of the chapter not filed. "That was absurd," she stated, "I checked with our secretary and she assured me that the report was filed well before the cut off date. Even if resolutions are rejected they are usually printed for delegates to view. The resolution wasn’t even given that due process; I am deeply troubled by all this."

Rev. Clenard H. Childress, Jr., Director of L.E.A.R.N. stated, "Each day 1,452 Afro-American women are victimized by the abortion industry. 81% of those women register some type of psychological complaint. The NAACP’s refusal to allow this resolution is nothing less than censorship. The present leadership is charting a course without a moral compass. They have made decisions without consensus or caucus."

A recent poll by BLACK Enterprise Magazine showed nearly 60% of African Americans disapproved of the decision of the NAACP to endorse the pro-choice position. African American women make up 13.7 percent of the U.S. population of women of childbearing age, yet the abortion rate among Black women is three times higher than of white women. For every 5 African American women that get pregnant 3 will abort.

Since the U.S. Supreme Court handed down the Roe V Wade decision on January 22nd, 1973 over 14 million Black infant’s lives have been terminated by abortion."

The NAACP needs to be held accountable for their irresponsible endorsements and behavior that only diminishes their great legacy. It is obvious that the present leadership is out of touch with the NAACP membership and the Afro-American families they represent. ," states Rev. Childress.

L.E.A.R.N. is the largest African American pro-life group in the United States. Its primary goal is to enlighten the minorities to the moral injustice of abortion and it’s decimation of their communities.
