First I have to say I've read your piece Save The Drama For Your Mama prior to you ever posting here. And it is a very powerful piece of work. Me being an Independent like you I've also had to look square at the mess from these parties, be it good or bad. Which is why when I lived in states like PA where you can't vote in a Primary without registering with a party I said "I'll pass on the Primary then". So glad to be in GA where I can vote in any Primary or election I choose and never have to commit to any party.
As far as the CBC is concerned, I'm surprised you wasted your time actually thinking they care about anything more than convincing Blacks more Social Programs are a good thing and to vote for "their guy."
I have to say I'm not so upset that no social programs were given after Slavery. Although I do think reparations were more than warranted. Beyond that I say like Frederick Douglas that we should have been allowed to do for ourselves. Many Black folks don't know how well many Blacks did do for themselves even without reparations. They also don't know how many Blacks had that wealth stolen from them or given up in terrible deals!
A lot of folks wonder why Condi Rice is a Republican, as if it is something "foreign". But they don't know those Democrats were trying to keep her father from voting and Republicans got him into the polls.
With the Assault Weapons Ban, that is one very big con-game being played. That ban was singed by Clinton 10 years ago, when 11 years ago there was no rash of killings with those types of weapons. One CA lawmaker saw 2 violent crimes in her state with them and made up that ban! Nothing but "feel good legislation"! To make it seem like the public is protected! The issue has not been the type of guns in this country, but that many law abiding citizens don't have guns while criminals do have them! Guess who started Gun Control and why they did it! And they still do it to this day! Except now some Black folks are buying into the game!I do have to say it's not fair to say the Democrats never elected a Black man up until 2004. Obama is their nominee in IL and a Black woman has been in the Senate on their ticket which should not be ignored. Also Majette is on their ticket in GA.
I noticed in your writings several specific mentions of politics in the state of Georgia. I think this would very much interest you. It offers some other information about Blacks' history of politics in the state.
It's best for Blacks to know the WHOLE TRUTH and much involving the DNC has been ignored.
