American Rice: "All around me were Chinese people of all kinds. I have known several friends from grade school whom were very traditional. They spoke English with an accent even though they were ABC (American-born Chinese) and they can't bend rules. 'I can't do that, my mom and dad are going to spank me.' What's the big ass deal? Who gives a hoot if you could be free like all the other American kids? Isn't being American already grants that liberty from omitting captivity under force? Being Chinese in America is very tricky and I happened to find out later in my life. If I am more American, my family and friends that are truly mentally stricken Chinese will accuse me of being unfaithful to my race. I am more American in my lifestyles doesn't mean that I am trying to be 'white'. Being 'white' has nothing to do with being Chinese-American or even being American. I wish some of these people could lay off the fact that me being more Americanized appear to be a threat to their values. To me that's internal racial discrimination. Cannot possibility buy that."
