Bob Meyer -- Liberal Hitchhikers are Often Phony Hijackers: "Those who call themselves 'liberal Christians' are often theologically obtuse. One mainline minister argued that Jesus never said anything regarding homosexuality, as if it was a widespread practice in Israel of his time. He never considered that Jesus was equally silent on rape, incest and bestiality. I am doubtful that his denomination rescinded the earlier prohibitions on these behaviors, since Jesus never broached those issues either. As recently as 1986, in the Bowers v. Hardwick case, Justice Burger commented that; 'To hold that the act of homosexual sodomy is somehow protected as a fundamental right would be to cast aside millennia of moral teaching.' Less than two decades later we are convinced that the Constitution contains a right to homosexual unions. Any belief to the contrary is reflexively branded as 'hate'. Of course if opposition to current trends and/or advocacy of traditional values are synonymous with hate, the liberal argument becomes circular, since all they do then is express 'hate' via their own remonstrations.
